parks or are visiting the many nightclubs and karaoke rooms. During the day Nanning is a bustle of
activity. Below I have listed a few things that you can do that are more tourist related but don't limit
yourself to those things. Interact with the local residents in their cultural activities. For example in the
early morning hours most people like to exercise so you could join others doing Tai-Chi at a nearby park
or maybe play badminton with locals (no net is needed). Then later you could rent a bike and investigate
Nanning's side roads and alleys.
Nanning also has swimming pools, sports arenas, tennis courts, fitness clubs, bowling alleys, cinemas and
recreation centers.
If you are interested in meeting other English speaking people and joining them for activities I have a
list of English Corners on my Main Page, and there is always the V-Touch Cafe and Kangaroo Bar.
Karaoke is very big in Nanning so a visit to a karaoke club is a must do when you are in Nanning. Take
all your family and friends with you when you do this. It's really cool as you get a private room and big
TV with microphones to use. You can also order soft drinks, beer, or food. There is music available to
sing along with in both Chinese and English. So don't be bashful and if you can't sing that well it really
doesn't matter. What matters is the fun you have with everyone.

Shopping in Nanning is pure pleasure. You can get anything you could possibly think of and most times at
very reasonable prices. The department stores and shopping centers I list below are great but don't
forget the smaller street vendors working out of their garage size rooms that you see everywhere.
They will haggle with you unlike the big department stores. Nanning is broken into different commercial
districts according to what is sold. For example: Xingning district is best when shopping for jewelry,
clothing, and fashionable items. Wholesale and retail shops for daily use articles can be found between
Huadong road and Jiaoyi market. Wherever you decide to go shopping always remember to take your
calculator and your translator with you to get the best deals.
