| Guilin, once the capital of the provincial area, but since moved to Nanning, is a city located in the northeast part of the Guangxi region. The city itself is not remarkable with the exception of the "old town" area. The breath taking scenery and attractions around it are the main reasons people flock to it. By far the #1 tourist site, Guilin is famous throughout the world and a must see by everyone visiting China for the first or tenth time. Boat trips on the Lijiang river are popular and most are catered so you can eat well while you are enjoying the scenery as you traverse slowly along the river toward Yangshuo. Transportation back to Guilin is provided by bus or mini-bus. Huge caves are ready to explore nearby as well: Reed-Flute, Seven Star. |
